Data

Why is Data important?

It is one thing to know there is a problem. It is another thing to know exactly what the problems is and what is causing it. Data gives us a better more detailed picture of exactly what is happening.

  • What are the emerging drug use trends?
  • Does our community have specific unmet service needs?
  • What groups of people are most affected?
  • Are there are gaps in existing services?
  • Where are the problems occurring?
  • What are the most concerning outcomes and consequences?
  • What are the knowledge levels and perceptions of our target audiences?
  • How effective are current programs & strategies?
  • What has worked in the past?
  • How healthy is our community?

It does no good to implement solutions to problems we don’t have. It is only when we look at the data and get a clear picture of what is actually happening, that we can begin to plan and prioritize the most appropriate solutions.
